The Weekly Travel Edit
2025 travel planning insights, a few laughs, and Paris properties to save for later
Ramblings du jour
A very happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful moms celebrating today. This year’s Mother’s Day feels especially meaningful to me, as it's my first celebrating as a mom of two, with my younger daughter’s first birthday rapidly approaching. It is not lost on me the incredible privilege of waking up to two smiling, healthy babies each day, and I’m endlessly grateful to help them grow and guide them through this precious life.
This week, I tuned into a webinar all about summer travel—what’s trending, what’s already booked, and destinations to consider. As always, European cities (and perennial favorites like Italy) are hot, hot, hot. Even though summer is right around the corner, it’s not too late to get something on the books if you haven’t already. In fact, with oil prices down, some experts are even saying that we will see better pricing on airfare in the coming months. Just a little nudge for anyone who needs it!
What’s also top of mind for many (as reflected by recent inbox requests) is travel planning for post–Labor Day, into fall and winter. Now is the perfect time to find good availability for fall getaways, Thanksgiving breaks, and holiday travel. I’ve already seen several hoteliers offering great specials as they look to fill their calendars.

All over the news this week: a runway is shut down at Newark, and it is causing all kinds of chaos. I liked this take from The Points Guy on what to do if your travel plans involve Newark in the next month.
Hotels on my radar
La Fantasie, Paris
Tucked away in the vibrant 9th arrondissement, La Fantaisie is a lush, design-forward hotel that feels like a hidden garden in the heart of Paris. With interiors by Martin Brudnizki and a rooftop bar offering panoramic views, it blends whimsical elegance with relaxed luxury. The color palette of La Fantasie stuck out to me in a sea of neutrals and traditional decor while researching Paris this past week. The property's common spaces are over the top chic, and I can only imagine sipping my morning espresso and having my croissant in their beautiful sunlit restaurant.
Hotel Madame Reve
Hôtel Madame Rêve is a five-star sanctuary in Paris's 1st arrondissement, housed in the historic Poste du Louvre building. Its 82 rooms and suites, many featuring private terraces, offer sweeping views of landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and Notre-Dame.
The thing that stood out to me was the massive rooftop garden, adorned with cherry trees and offering panoramic vistas of the city. Dining options include La Plume, a Franco-Japanese fusion restaurant, and Kitchen, a modern brasserie, both of which provide refined culinary experiences. Sign me up!

I love boutique-y hotels, this one in Paris looks quaint and cute!
Can't wait to go to Paris some day. This newsletter is a breath of fresh air and so inspiring. Maybe my 16 years of French will pay off while I am there, (lol).
